announced their Quantum project last year, the development of a web

After going through various phases of development, Mozilla has now integrated the latest Quantum engine on Firefox Beta - enabling more users worldwide to test it easily.

Mozilla, through the Speedometer 2.0 benchmarking test, Quantum engine
offers more than twice the speed compared to the previous engine used on
Firefox. In fact, Mozilla also compares it with Chrome, and shows this Firefox Quantum faster than Quantum.
Mozilla says Firefox Quantum is faster because it takes advantage of the multi-CPU usage that is present on the device today. It also allows for more efficient processing than ever which only runs on just one CPU.
