AMD Announces Their Latest APU Based on Ryzen CPU And Rx Vega GPU For Laptops

Since the presence of AMD Ryzen CPU and AMD RX Vega graphics card, many are curious about another AMD product, namely their APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) that combines their CPU and GPU power in the same processing unit.

AMD has just announced its newest APU presence called AMD Ryzen Mobile which comes with AMD Ryzen CPU and AMD RX Vega graphics processing unit. In this series, AMD comes with two APU units built specifically for laptops, including AMD Ryzen 7 2700U and AMD Ryzen 5 2500U.

These two CPUs come with a total of 4 cores and 8 power ranges at 3.8GHz (Ryzen 7 2700U) and 3.6 GHz (Ryzen 5 2500U), and come with technologies like AMD SenseMI, Precision Boost 2 and mXFR (mobile Extended Frequency Range) that helps improve the performance of this Ryzen Mobile APU.

In terms of battery life, AMD said that the APU Ryzen Mobile can last 10-11 hours, or twice as long as the APUs were in the market before.

AMD also said that their latest APU was able to mobilize a number of e-sports games such as CS: GO, League of Legends, DoTA 2, Overrwatch and so on the 1920 × 1080 pixel Full HD resolution with a fairly comfortable frame rate through the RX Vega graphics processor chips comes with 10 (Ryzen 7 2700U) and 8 (Ryzen 5 2500U) Compute Unit.

In addition, both APUs also come with AMD FreeSync 2 display technology support and also support for 4K resolution and HDR (High Dynamic Range).

Another interesting feature that comes with APU Ryzen Mobile is mXFR, a variation to the XFR overclocking system that allows your system to improve its performance even if your laptop comes with a powerful cooling system.

For now, APU Ryzen Mobile will be available through laptop makers such as Acer, ASUS, and HP. According to AMD, ultra-thin laptops from these companies will be present in the market in early 2018.
