Apple Gets Sued Because Using Animoji Trademark Without Permission

Animoji is an exciting function that allows iPhone X users to transmit an animated emoji according to the user's face. Face ID face detection technology is used to generate the right animation. Last week Apple was sued by Animoji app developers for unauthorized use of trademarks.

The suit is filed by Emonster k.k. Bonansea who developed the Animoji messaging app that can be used on iOS devices since 2014. He has patented the name Animoji in 2015. He claims Apple is trying to buy Animoji's trademark rights from him but he refuses. Apple still uses Animoji as the official name of the latest iPhone X function even though it is known to have been played by Emonster k.k. Bonansea. Hence he gave the injunction preventing Apple from continuing to use this trademark as long as legal and compensation costs were not provided.
