IPhone X is the state-of-the-art device Apple has ever created with Face ID face detection system. This 3D scanning system is said to be much safer than Touch ID. A total of 30,000 infrared dots are transmitted on the user's face to identify their identity. This Face ID component is the reason why iPhone X's production levels are problematic.
This is because of the high standards set by Apple itself. As a result many components have to be rejected and Finisar, the scanners supplier fails to meet Apple's demand. According
to Bloomberg's report, to increase the production volume of iPhone X
Apple has lowered the standard Face ID system level. With this amount of failed components at the same time allowing more iPhone X to be released.
Even though the standards have been downgraded, the Face ID system used on the device is still said to be more secure than Touch ID. For these users it may be a bit disappointing because Apple is known for using the best components on their device while making them willing to spend more to have it.
