Facebook
is often experimenting with new things on their social sites -
collecting various feedback before introducing them globally. Now, after introducing Explore Feeds last week, the latest Facebook is testing the News Feed distribution to two different tabs.
The first and foremost focuses on sharing of friends and family members - apart from being paid with paid partnership and advertising. The second tab for News Feeds is seen focusing on sharing from Pages followed by a user.
Facebook is testing this new News Feed in several countries, including Sri Lanka, Serbia, Cambodia, Guatemala, Slovakia and Bolivia.
The introduction of this new feature allows users to interact more closely with friends and family members. However, it is seen to have a negative impact on the reach by Facebook Pages.
Indirectly, it also reduces access to some digital media - especially to media that often generate a tailored article optimized for social sharing. Since Facebook still shows paid partnerships and advertisements in the main News Feed - it's like giving an idea that Facebook asks the Pages owner to pay for higher reach among users.
Facebook confirmed that they are doing this test in understanding the acceptance of the user. For now, Facebook does not plan to extend this test to other countries.
