Previously Facebook restricted video content offerings through their platform at 720p resolution only. But, now it's changing, which is now Facebook has started testing and added support for 4K video display via their platform.
Facebook has previously added 4K resolution support for 360-degree video - however, for normal video, it is limited to 720p. This may be because many people use and watch videos on Facebook via mobile devices - and do not want to use high internet data.

However, now
with Facebook's focus on video - including introducing its own broadcast
platform called Facebook Watch, it's time to add 4K support.
Now, some videos have begun offering 4K display support, and may be offered more soon. For now, this feature is tested among a few users - and may be extended to the public soon.
