Remove Old Windows 10 File And Get Extra Storage After Upgrading Windows 10 FCU

Windows 10 FCU
For those of you who have upgraded Windows 10 to the latest version, you may have noticed that your storage space is slightly smaller than ever. This is something that is expected due to the addition of some new files - but at the same time, this happens because old Windows 10 files are also stored on the computer.

Microsoft saves a copy of the old Windows 10 because it wants to simplify the process if the user wants to switch to the previous version easily. However, if you've been using Windows 10 Fall Creators Update for a few days, and find that you do not need an old copy of Windows 10, you can remove it.

By removing it, you will be able to add storage space to your computer - something very useful if you are using SSD and have limited space.

To remove it, you can open Disk Cleanup (press the Windows button and type Disk Cleanup), and run it as an administrator. After scanning your computer, Disk Cleanup will show you how much space you can empty. From our own experiments, it gives an extra space of nearly 26GB by removing old Windows 10 installation files.

If you are certain you will not need an old version or want to go back to the old Windows 10, you can choose to remove it and get extra space on your computer. If you are still in doubt, it may be possible to save it, or duplicate it before removing it.
