57 Million Uber User Data Been Stolen

The case took place in October 2016 involving names, phone numbers and email addresses of 57 million Uber users worldwide. At the same time 7 million driver information was also stolen. However, other information such as credit card and user travel logs are still safe.
Uber then paid $ 100,000 ransom to hackers to prevent this information from spreading. They did not inform the authorities of this case. The existence of this incident is only known after an audit is conducted by an external firm on the direction of the board of directors.
As a result of this discovery, Uber has fired the Chief Security Officer and his deputies for failing to disclose data theft and pay-for-money hackers.
New CEO Uber Dara Khosrowshahi admits this should not happen and no excuse can be given to the negligence of the company. He also promised to make changes to Uber to avoid repeating the same incident.
