Uber's existence transforms the public transport landscape around the world. This
vehicle sharing service makes it easy for users to get to the
destination by being invited directly from the front door without having
to deal with taxis that are often problematic. The next phase for Uber is to create a self-driving vehicle service.
In order to achieve this, they have announced the purchase of 24,000 Volvo XC90 and XC60 cars with self-driving capabilities. This
$ 1 billion purchase will be made between 2019 and 2021.
This is the same vehicle used by Uber in their pilot taxi test in
Pittsburgh in August last year. In the pilot test, 100 pilot self-driving were tested.
