Unlock Using Face ID Slower Than Touch ID

Apple is committed to using Face ID face detection system on the iPhone X with no Touch ID fingerprint scanner. It's even heard that Face ID's will be used on all iOS devices beginning next year. The reason is that Face ID is much more secure than Touch ID.

But what is counter against the use of Face ID? According to Tom's Hardware report, the most significant difference between the two systems is the speed of decoding the device. When using Touch ID, the device can be locked within 0.9 seconds. Face ID requires 1.48 seconds for unlocked devices.

This is because the screen needs to be turned on first (using Raise to Wake) before the face is scanned and then the user will need to scroll up the screen to lock. Compare with Touch ID where only the fingers need to press the home button and the system locks directly without any fingerprints on the screen.

The difference in keyword time is small but for those who are familiar with speed it may be annoying. We personally did not lock the device because it had been the habit of evading seven years ago.
