Lockheed Martin & Aerion Work Together To Produce Personal Supersonic Jet

The last commercial supersonic aircraft last operated in 2003. The Concorde service was shut down due to the Air France 4590 tragedy and aircraft that were too old. Today's interest in producing a supersonic passenger plane returns to meet the needs of passengers who want to reach the destination quickly. Among those being developed are NASA's Boom and QueSST.

At the same time the development of supersonic jets was also developed in parallel to meet the elite. Lockheed Martin and Aerion have announced cooperation to produce the first supersonic jet. Aerion has embarked on a three-engine Aerion AS2 equipped jet build from 2014.

In collaboration with Lockheed Martin, the development process is enhanced because of Lockheed's previous experience of producing SR-71 Blackbird capable of reaching Mach 3.3. Both companies hope to be able to test flights by 2023.
