Micron Completes GDDR6 Memory Design - Will Be Launched in 2018

Micron, a memory chip maker today is said to have completed the GDDR6 memory chip design and will be used by AMD and NVIDIA for their top-class graphics card next year.
According to Kristopher Kido, Micron global memory business director, the company has already completed the design and specification of the graphics chip chip, and will begin manufacturing in 2018.
Micron is also known for being the only company to successfully manufacture the GDDR5X memory chips used by the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 and 1080 Ti graphics card that is crowned among the most powerful graphics cards available today.
In terms of specs, GDDR6 memory chips are said to be present with 8Gb and 16Gb memory densities, which allow graphics card makers to use the GDDR6 memory of 8GB and 12GB, while in terms of speed, GDDR6 memory is theoretically capable of being run up to 16GHz, although according to Micron, the initial release of this chip will be present at 12-14GHz.
For comparison, the NVIDA GeForce GTX Titan Xp graphics card with 12GB GDDR5X memory comes with a memory speed of 11.4Gbps, so you can imagine how fast the next class graphics card will be when it comes to the market.
