Apple believes the Face ID scanning system is a future requirement so it no longer includes fingerprint scanners on the iPhone X. The use of this year's frame design has caused fingerprint scanners to change their position back on Android devices. But next year may eventually be the built-in fingerprint scanner on the screen to be found on smart devices.
Synaptics is among the companies that are actively developing a built-in fingerprint scanning system on the screen. They today announced the latest Clear ID FS9500 scanner. Also announced is to be used on OLED's world-leading "top 5" manufacturer's infinity screen next year.
From some of the instructions provided in the Synaptics general distribution, it is likely that the Clear ID FS9500 will be used on the Samsung Galaxy S9. If true, the fingerprint scanner problem at this year's S8 odd position will be resolved.
