The GPS navigation system is now becoming a standard function for most modern cars. But from personal experience, this built-in GPS system is not as good as a popular navigation system like Waze. At CES, Waze has announced partnership with Ford to use their applications on vehicle HUD systems.
In the second quarter of 2017, Ford vehicles with the SYNC 3 system will be able to display Waze. This is done through an iOS device connection with SmartDeviceLink. When displayed on the vehicle LCD system, users can also use Spotify and Waze voice controls. Currently only iOS devices are supported without any information about Android devices at this time.
