If you are into a hot spring or Ryokan in Japan, visitors should arrange unused sandals at the door. This is a known practice if you are a Japanese citizen. Outdoors are unlikely to know it and cause slip sandals outside the door.
To solve this problem, Nissan used their car ProPilot's autonomous system on slippers for use at the Ryokan located in Hakone. Slippers will automatically sort out. A pair of wheels and a sensor are used on each slippers to produce this autonomous system.
The same system can be found on the Nissan Leaf car. Previously this ProPilot system was used on a chair waiting outside the restaurant while waiting for the turn to eat.
